OVERVIEW
Laos, officially known as the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), is a landlocked nation in the heart of Southeast Asia. As of 2026, it is a country in a significant state of transition, particularly as it marks its official recommendation for graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status.

Laos is the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia, sharing borders with China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar.
